I am sitting here with one baby in bed and two children about to head down for the night thinking about how time is fleeting. We only have so many hours in the day and days in the week and weeks in the year to make the most of. I know this sounds so philosophical, but I have been taking inventory of my life and trying to see where I can improve the most.
I love my family and it is time to make them and only them my top priority. Not that I haven’t before, but I really need to soak in these years. They won’t be little for long and I know I will wish I had these days back.
I am focusing on being more patient, more present, and spending more meaningful time with my littles. Another book? Sure. A few cuddles? Of course. Kisses, kisses and more kisses? Yes, please. In a minute they will not need me to read them a book. Cuddles will be replaced with a quick wave. Kisses will be too embarrassing. I hate to even think about those days to come. Sometimes I wonder how I got so lucky; how God could have graced me with these beauties. I am so not worthy.
So tonight I will spend a few extra minutes making sure the three know they are the most important people in my life. I will tell them how much I love them. I will lay down tonight and than God for the most extraordinary gifts that I have been given.
With the first two full weeks of school in the book so, this teacher needed a break. I always forget (selective memory) how much work it takes to be a teacher. Between lesson planning, grading, meetings, and actually being in front of the classroom on my feet all day long I am beat. I love my job, but, man, it’s exhausting.
This weekend I planned on resting a recovering in the best way I know how with three little ones running around. My mission has pretty much been accomplished.
I was looking through Shawn’s phone yesterday and found this gem…
I love so many things about this picture. They are hilarious in their matching shirts. Megan and Tyler spend hours playing “twins” and they love dressing alike.
I hope everyone was able to enjoy the great long weekend. Cheers to a four day work week!
Megan started Kindergarten last week and as I was looking back on blog posts over the last three (WOW, 3!!!) I loved to see my kids first day pictures. That is the greatest thing about a blog; keeping and preserving memories.
That uniform, those shoes…I die
So Meg started school without a whole lot of dramatics. She loves her teacher, she is learning new things, and meeting new friends is one of her greatest pleasures in life. Her love language, if you will.
I thought I would be more emotional…even sad…when this day came. But honestly, she was ready and she made this day so much easier than I could have ever imagined.
I want to eat that face up all day long
We are starting a new season in our family. And while I still have Ryan to fill all my needs for baby snuggles, I am enjoying where our life is taking us. Each day becomes a little bit easier as the children learn to be a little more independent. And while I know they will always need me, it is nice that they want to explore and experience on their on a bit.
Meggles, my big girl. I know this is the first of many things you will accomplish in your life. Congrats on your first day, little sweetie!
It’s been such a long time, friends.
Life has certainly been full.
Summer has ended, my (first) baby started Kindergarten and life is moving at lightening speed.
I have so much to write but no time to commit to it.
Hopefully I will be back soon….
